Dr. W. S. Matkar Sangeet Vidyalaya

Dr. W. S. Matkar Sangeet Vidyalaya was established in 1983 and has been continuously working in the field of music and dance education for over four decades. The institution provides systematic and scientific training in Vocal Music, Harmonium, Tabla, Kathak, Bharatanatyam and other classical art forms.

Highly qualified and experienced teachers ensure quality education in every subject. The Vidyalaya is affiliated with Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and prepares students for examinations from Prarambhik to Visharad Poorna.

The academic session starts every year from 15th June and classes are conducted twice a week according to schedule.

The Centre Head believes that Sangeet Vidyalaya plays an important role in preserving and promoting Indian classical music and dance. Regular practice, disciplined training, and proper guidance from experienced gurus help students achieve excellence in their respective fields. The centre focuses on overall development of students through structured learning, cultural values, and performance opportunities.

Examinations are conducted in April–May. Around 200 to 250 students from this Vidyalaya appear for exams every year, while 900 to 1000 students from other institutions also appear at this centre. Proper arrangements are made for students, teachers and parents during examination period.

Students who pass with distinction and first rank are honoured with medals and certificates during the annual Gurupoornima program.

Students from all departments perform their respective art forms and teachers are also felicitated.
