Dr. W. S. Matkar Sangeet Vidyalaya was established in the year 1983. This organization has been continuously working for 4 decades. Singing, Harmonium, Tabla, Kathak, Bharatanatyam etc. Subjects are taught in a scientific manner. For that, highly educated, experienced and expert teachers have been appointed for that subject. This Sangeet Vidyalaya is affiliated to Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. The examination sessions of the said Vidyalaya from Prarambhik to Visharad Poorna are conducted in the period of April-May and November-December.
According to the schedule, every teacher is coming two days a week to the school to teach music, and dance. All the classes start from 15th June every year in Sangeet Vidyalaya. To enter the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya examination, the students of all departments are prepared according to the syllabus. Many of these students pass with distinction and first class. Every year about 200 to 250 students of Vidyalaya appear in this center and generally 900 to 1000 students of other Sangeet Vidyalaya appear in our center. All students, teachers and parents are properly arranged by our institution during the examination period. Students who have passed the examination with distinction or first rank are felicitated with medals and certificates in the annual program called “Gurupoornima”. Every year in the Gurupurnima event, students of all departments of the Sangeet Vidyalaya present their respective subjects and all the teachers of the college are also honoured Every student in the school is included in this program.
As artistic development is the foundation of overall development, Dr. W.S. Matkar Sangeet Vidyalaya is continuously working for the personality development of the students.
